Separation from opposite-direction car traffic comes from curb, and having the near-side bike lane extend 6.5 ft (2 m) from face of curb to yellow line. Curb was shifted in order to create enough space for safe bicycling without bollards or barrier, since bollards pose a hazard in themselves.
