Professor Adams has conducted research on a number of interesting and different problems in applied mechanics. These include the
determination of the significance of non-square-root singularities in fracture mechanics and in adhesive contacts; frictional slip
associated with bonded contacts; prying action in bolted joints; appropriate boundary conditions for beams/plates with one-sided and
two-sided constraints; elastic wrinkling; and many other areas described under
