Professor Adams' research focuses on modeling the mechanics and tribology of a CNT-based nanoswitch. This effort includes electrostatic actuation, the mechanics of a CNT bundle with displacement-induced tension, and the frictional slip with the shoulders and adhesion to the bottom of the trench. A related project is the measurement of nanoscle friction through a novel combination of modeling and experimental observations.
