The
environmental microbiology laboratory is a new facility that serves
as a stand-alone environmental laboratory geared towards microbiological
applications, housing a comprehensive set of precision instruments
critical to detailed microbiological research applications. The microbiology
laboratory contains a:

• Shimadzu UV-Mini 1240 Spectrophotometer;

• Mettler Toledo Seven Multi pH/ISE digital meter;

• BIO-RAD IQ5 Real-Time PCR System;
• BIO-RAD Gel-Doc XR Imaging System;
• Beckman/Coulter Allegra X-22R refrigerated centrifuge;
• Eppendorf 5415 D Centrifuge;
• Quincy Lab 12-140E Incubator;
• UVP HB-1000 Hybridizer;
• Labconco Class 1 Biological safety Cabinet;
• Nucleic acid and protein/Western Blotting gel sets.
• VWR -20oC and -80oC freezers
Gu's
research group is also part of the NU's Biotechnology Initiative.
Through collaboration, we have access to facilities through NU Biotechnology
Initiative Program at many other departments including chemical engineering,
mechanical engineering, Biology, chemistry, physics and others.
