Dear Mechanical Engineering Middlers:
Following two successful dialogue programs to Egypt and one to Tasmania, we are pleased to inform you that, we are planning to have the second Tasmania, Australia, Dialogue program during the second Summer Session of 2017. Given the nature of our curriculum, this is most likely your only chance to study abroad while at Northeastern University. During the second Summer Session of 2018 Dialogue in Vietnam, you will be taking the "International Application of Fluid Mechanics, ME3480" course and "Special Topics in Mechanical Engineering: Exploring Engineering, History, Culture and Arts in Vietnam, ME4699" to be accepted as your elective course. The ME4699 course includes several visits to hydro-power plants, cultural and historiacal sites, meuseums, local induarires, natural beauties etc. with a midterm presentation and a final report. A book or two about Vietnam will also be assigned to read. The Cost: The tuition you pay to Northeastern University will cover most of the costs on this program. However, depending on the number of participants, the NEU Global Experience Office (GEO) will determine the extra cost for each student which is estimated to be between $1500 and $2000, based on our past experience. Your round trip ticket from Boston to Vietnam and back to Boston, accommodations in Hanoi, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City and local transportation costs are covered. You, however, will pay for your own luch and dinner. If you have financial aid, it can be applied to the costs of this program - just as if you were taking courses on campus. You must check with your financial aid advisor to guarantee that any aid you have can be applied to the summer 2018 program. If you are interested, please email me within 10 days. YOU MUST ALSO SUBMIT ALL THE NECESSARY FORMS AT GLOBAL EXPERIENCE OFFICE WEB SITE. Once I see all applications, I will then set an interview time for the final selection of the participants. Sincerely, Mo Taslim, Professor MIE Department 617-373-5514

P.S. Please do not hesitate to call me if you have any questions. Also, here is the email of Scott Benerofe who participated in the Summer of 2017 Tasmania Dialogue. He has agreed to answer any questions you might have about the whole program from a participant's point of view. Please email her your questions at: benerofe.s@husky.neu.edu Applications will be available for download from the Northeastern GEO: www.northeastern.edu/geo/
