Teach courses on soil mechanics, foundation engineering and engineering materials.  Perform sponsored research requiring expertise in soil behavior, soil reinforcement, laboratory equipment automation, measurement instrumentation, data acquisition, site characterization, geotechnical design methods, and ground construction problems. Participate in sponsored research for engineering education development initiatives.

 

Research Assistant and Graduate Instructor, Department of Civil Engineering, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, MA 1989-1991.  Conducted sponsored research in geotechnical engineering.  Taught Subject Advanced Soil Mechanics, to 1st year graduate students.

 

Laboratory Technician, Germaine and Associates, Inc., Lexington, MA 1986-1991.  Conducted Geonor direct simple shear and triaxial tests on various clays; performed sampling tube radiography and interpreted images; reduced and analyzed data; developed laboratory software.

 

Officer-in-Charge, U.S. Navy Seabee Construction Unit, Naval Air Station Alameda, CA.  1984-1986.  Managed the administration and construction activities of fifty-five person military unit which constructs projects at Naval installations throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.

 

Assistant Officer-in-Charge, Navy Seabee Construction Unit, various overseas locations.  1981-1984.  Developed design changes to accommodate site and logistical conditions at four remote overseas locations.  Managed construction units and prepared progress reports.
